Enjoying Revolution Summer by Joseph Ellis.  Independence was voted on on July 2 and approved for publication on July 4. However, the full document was placed before the Continental Congress on June 28 and debate on the Virginia Resolution for independence begun at that time. The vote unanimous, 12-0, with New York abstaining.
