Author Joe Edd Morris announces release of new religious fiction novel
‘The Last Page’ delves into the mystery surrounding the missing last page of Mark’s Gospel
TUPELO, Miss. – In The Last Page (published by WestBow Press), an archaeologist and ancient manuscript expert travel to revolt-torn Syria in pursuit of the original scroll of the Gospel of Mark. Their story is paralleled two millennia earlier by the author of the Gospel and his efforts to finish the scroll and protect it for the ages.
Author Joe Edd Morris describes his inspiration for the book as a matter of intrigue: “The last page of the Gospel of Mark, the resurrection story of Christ, has been missing for millennia. Did Mark intend to leave the Resurrection shrouded in mystery, available only to faith? Or is his last Resurrection page missing?”
Morris hopes to provide for a society that he says “yearns for a contemporary and relevant view of the Resurrection of Christ,” a journey in faith, through historical fiction, to the heart of the Resurrection. With the aid of parallel narratives, readers will come to understand how the gospel was written and distributed and how Christianity expanded in the first century. They will also be challenged to rethink and renew their faith in that critical key event.

Joe Edd Morris is the author of the award-winning novel Land Where My Fathers Died. Morris’s nonfiction work includes his recent publication of Ten Things I Wish Jesus Hadn’t Said. His short fiction has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Morris , a retired United Methodist minister of the Mississippi Conference, and his wife, Sandi, live in Tupelo, Miss., where he has a private psychology practice, works in a prison and writes.
